I work in portraiture using paints and inks, but I also make narrative pieces in paint, collage, inks and mixed media. Art for me is about emotion, ideas and truth, balanced or maybe in opposition to the physical properties of the media and process - I like to be surprised by what happens when they collide. Often, ideas which resonate deeply with me make no sense – this is my sweet spot for creativity – but later on I see the connections between aspects of femininity, wasps' nests, my own body and lipoedema, sleep and sugar, coldness, anxiety and passion.
